Maybe you have briefly heard about DB2 access from mobile devices and DB2 RESTful API, and you thought REST was something like putting on your shades and leaning back in a beach chair with your feet in the hot sand?
Well not quite. DB2 – both z/OS and LUW – have evolved, introducing functionality beyond just relational data and SQL.
Maryela Weihrauch, IBM Distinguished Engineer and z Systems Analytics world-wide technical expert, will explain how DB2 can be accessed from mobile devices via REST APIs in her keynote session.
For the zOS track we offer 3 sessions : Jacek Rafalak of CA Technologies will cover RTS. Maryela will explore DB2 built-in analytics SQL functionality that was introduced some time ago but did not receive a lot of attention. However, this session will change that, and you can go back to your shop afterwards to simplify your applications and let DB2’s cool SQL functions do the hard work for you, instead of writing complex code to manipulate large sets of data and turn them into analytics reports. On his flip-flops, Dirk Beauson of KBC will, in his unique style, explain how statistics are used and how they provide value for KBC.
The LUW track runs in parallel starting with ‘Cloud strategies’ by Marcel Berkhout, IBM. After the lunch Peter Vanroose / Koen De Backer, both from ABIS, will shed a light on (thei)’R experiences with DB2 UDB’. And finally Klaas Brant will cover ‘Building a RESTFUL server using Python’.
After the coffee break of the afternoon Didier De Cock from CA Technologies will clear the sky on continuous delivery and how agile development can deliver new functionality faster.
Keep your shades on as Kurt Struyf travels through “Fun with SQL’ to make sure you get the most out of SQL functionality.
As days gets warmer, drinks get colder, and you are invited to join your peers for a great networking opportunity offered by IBM at the end of the day.
We are convinced you want to learn how DB2 adapts and stays relevant to changing application development practices, so don’t hesitate and register today.
As if such a wealth of technical sessions is not enough to attend this event, IBM will also raffle a FREE IDUG pass for the Conference in Lisbon, October 1-5 2017, among the DB2 Customers attending the event ! (Must be present to win and a member of worldofdb2.)
